A NEW AREA AND RARE MATERIAL ADDED: 12 KYKLADES ISLANDS!

A new area has just been added to Greek Ancestry’s databases: the Kyklades Islands! The database currently hosts more than 25,000 records from the following 12 Kyklades Islands: Amorgos, Andros, Ios, Kimolos, Milos, Mykonos, Paros & Antiparos, Santorini (Thira), Sifnos, Syros, Tinos.

What’s even more exciting is the variety of records hosted – Voter Lists from the 1840s, the 1860s and 1870s, Military Lists from 1889 and…this month’s gem, the 1829 Census of Governor Kapodistrias! The Census includes 4,000 records from Amorgos, Ios, Kimolos, Milos, Paros & Antiparos, Sifnos.

The type of information included in the census reports varried, depending on the region. The census may include from the individual’s name, surname and occupation to his age, information about his family, number of children, wife’s name etc. Women were included in the censuses as wives, daughters or widows.
