Exciting news! The new Greek Genealogy Guide has been released!
On the last day of the International Greek Ancestry Conference, Greek Ancestry intern, Alexandra Kiritsy, announced the release of the new online Greek Genealogy Guide, a work by Carol Kostakos Petranek, Alexandra Kiritsy & Gregory Kontos of Greek Ancestry. The Guide’s goals are: a) to reflect recent advancements and changes in the field of Greek genealogy, b) to assist the reader, beginner to advanced, with his/her research, c) to serve as an ongoing resource as Greek genealogy continues to evolve, and 4) to complement Greek Ancestry’s educational initiatives.
An accurate and thorough Guide has been a long need of our field of Greek family history and genealogy research. As more and more Greek records become available online, and new tools and techniques are developed, such a Guide has become a prerequisite. The guide has been especially designed for an online format, in order to include hundreds of useful hyperlinks, and to be easily accessible and navigable! Its contents cover a wide variety of topics of interest to any researcher: information about archival repositories and different types of records, a dictionary, historical sections, information about Greek names… even links to all regions’ municipalities, archival offices and Metropolises… Most importantly, content is updated regularly! For a detailed table of contents, see here.
The Guide is accessible by membership ($25, one-time payment). Revenue from the Guide will support Greek Ancestry’s Village History Projects Initiative!
