Greek Ancestry was founded in January 2020 by historian Gregory Kontos. An expert in Greek migration history, Gregory is a leader in the Greek genealogy community. He pioneers digitization projects, supervises indexing teams, and provides genealogical research services for clients worldwide.

Greek Ancestry’s databases are the product of the systematic work of an entire team of indexers in Greece and abroad. However last but not least, the invaluable help and support of good friends, like Carol Kostakos Petranek, a pioneer of Greek genealogy, is undoubtedly a key element behind Greek Ancestry.

The information provided in the free searchable indexed databases is partial. However, when you order a complete transcribed record, you receive additional information.

All records and collections are not the same. However, in most cases, you can expect to receive at least some of the following additional information: given name, age, father’s name, occupation. A complete source citation and record image will be provided for free.

Automatic discounts apply, when you order more than one record. The more records you order, the greater discounts you receive. You do not need to have a coupon to be eligible to receive automatic discounts!

There might be many reasons why you have not yet been able to find what you are looking for:

A) It is possible that the spelling(s) of the name(s) or place(s) which you used in your searches was incorrect or that our databases include a different spelling . If you think this might have been the case, do not hesitate asking us for the correct spelling(s) by filling out this form for free.

B) It is possible that currently our databases do not include the area you are looking for or the time period of interest. As our databases are updated on a monthly basis, please register your email address to receive alerts about newly added and upgraded collections!

C) Despite your best efforts, genealogy research can be unpredictable. Some names can be missing, some records might have been destroyed. If you feel that might be the case with your research, try to do as many searches as possible, using alternative spellings and searching for the entire village/town you think your ancestor might have come from.
