Village History Projects Initiative

Connect, Collaborate, and Preserve Greek Village Histories

The Village History Projects Initiative by Greek Ancestry is a collaborative program that unites researchers and individuals with shared ties to Greek villages or family names. Through this initiative, we facilitate the exchange of genealogical knowledge, preserve local histories, and strengthen connections within the Greek ancestry community. Whether you’re tracing your family roots or contributing to village history, this initiative offers a meaningful way to engage with your heritage. This initiative encourages participants to share the history of their families and villages in a variety of creative and impactful ways, including:
  • Family Trees: Post detailed family trees on popular genealogy forums such as Tribal Pages, Ancestry, MyHeritage, Geni, and WikiTree.
  • Dedicated Websites: Develop a website focused on the history of a specific Greek village or family, showcasing stories, records, and community contributions.
  • E-Books: Publish a free, accessible e-book that delves into the history of a family or village, offering a lasting resource for future generations.
Unlike individual family research, the Village History Project delves into the broader history of all identifiable residents of a particular village over an extended period. These projects are invaluable for capturing the rich narratives and collective heritage of Greek communities. We welcome projects at all stages, whether you are still planning, actively working, or have completed your research. By sharing your project, you not only contribute to the greater genealogy community but also gain access to valuable feedback, support, and collaboration opportunities. All projects will be featured on the “Village History” tab of the Greek Ancestry website, ensuring they are visible and accessible to the public. To further support your work, Greek Ancestry offers:
  • Project Promotion: Highlighting your project on the Village History Projects Initiative page of our website and sharing it through our outreach channels.
  • Discounted Access: Providing discounted rates for accessing historical records related to specific villages.
  • Financial Assistance: Potential funding through the Greek Ancestry Village History Project Fund, supported by proceeds from our Greek Genealogy Guide.
If you are passionate about preserving the history of your Greek village or family, we invite you to participate in this exciting initiative. Share your project details by submitting the form available here and become part of a vibrant and supportive genealogy community.
